Local Author Discusses Her Book Aiming To Help Immigrants In America

Livermore Public Library will host author Senit Mesfin Piccigallo on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Piccigallo will discuss her book You’re in America – Now What? 7 Steps to Integrate with Ease and Joy. This in-person program will be held outdoors at the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue. Copies of Piccigallo’s book will be available for sale and signing.

You’re in America – Now What? is a guide to help immigrants transition into their new country. The book reflects the author’s experience coming to her new home by way of China and Eritrea. It includes seven proven techniques to help first-generation immigrants from developing nations make the American integration process easier and enjoyable. The book aims to help immigrants:

  • Feel more confident in navigating the American culture
  • Learn how to communicate with ease
  • Expand their support system and overcome loneliness
  • Feel like they belong in their new community

Senait Mesfin Piccigallo speaks and writes in three languages: Tigrinya, Amharic, and English. She taught English as a second language for two years in Dalian, China, and continued her writing skills by teaching Chinese teachers to prepare their English curriculum. Piccigallo is a graduate of Asmara University in East Africa. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology. Senait is married with three children, and resides in Livermore, California.
