Do you want to better assist your family and neighbors in a disaster?

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) is once again offering free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training. Classes will be held from 6:00 to 9:30 on Thursday evenings from May 18 to June 22, 2017, and will include Saturday June 10 from 9:00 to 4:00. Classes are held at the City of Pleasanton’s Operations Service Center and the LPFD training grounds on Busch Road. Classes are open to those who live and/or work in the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton.

The CERT training is an opportunity for community members to learn about basic disaster preparedness and beyond. Through classroom and hands-on instruction, participants will learn about disaster preparedness and basic response related to fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, and terrorism. The seven-session program also covers disaster psychology and the mission of the CERT organization, and culminates in a LPFD and CERT drill, putting what participants have learned into practice.

Pre-registration for the CERT course is required and space is limited. To register and get further details, please call (925) 454-2361. Those interested can also email questions to CERT@LPfire.org.
