Spring Into Action!

Become involved in your community by serving on one of the City's advisory bodies.  Applications are now being accepted for the Beautification Committee, Commission for the Arts, Historic Preservation Commission, Library Board of Trustees, Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission (adult opening) and the Livermore Housing Authority.

Beautification Committee – The Beautification Committee makes recommendations to the City Council regarding park, roadside, median island and entranceway beautification; private property maintenance standards; street tree, ancestral tree and public area landscaping standards; street decorations.

Next meeting: April 5, 2017, 6:00 pm, Maintenance Service Center, 3500 Robertson Park Road

Commission for the Arts – The Commission for the Arts encourages and facilitates cultural programs that enrich the community. The Commission promotes Livermore as a vibrant and stimulating environment for artists and audiences, young and old, to experience the performing, visual, and literary arts.

Next meeting: March 28, 2017, 4:30 pm, Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue

Historic Preservation Commission - responsible for identifying, protecting, and preserving Livermore's historic resources.  Their successes are visible in the beauty of Livermore's historic structures and landmarks.

Next meeting: The regular meeting on April 6, 2017 has been cancelled.  A special meeting will be held on April 3, 2017, 7:00 pm, City Council Chambers, 3575 Pacific Avenue.

Library Board of Trustees - helps to set goals and objectives for the broad variety of services and programs the Library provides and recommends policy modifications to City Council.

Next meeting: March 23, 2017, 7:00 pm, Civic Center Library Board Room, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue

Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission - brings together the youths and adults, and private and public sectors of the community to address responsibility for the care, health, safety, welfare and education of Livermore's young people. The Commission consists of 15 youths (ages 12-20) and 3 adults, and creates a forum for ideas and interests that are communicated to City Council.

Livermore Housing Authority – The purpose of the Authority is to administer and oversee the 125 low-income housing units at Leahy Square. Additionally, the Authority oversees the Section Eight Certificate Program and the Voucher Program for subsidized housing.

Applications are due to the City Clerk’s office by 5:00 pm on April 14, 2017. Applicants must attend at least one meeting of the advisory body applying for before submitting an application and must reside within the Livermore city limits.
