The City of Livermore is pleased to announce the availability of the 2017-2018 Tourism and Special Event Grants. Under this program, five (5) grants of $1000 each will be awarded to organizations that successfully demonstrate that their event will directly benefit Livermore downtown businesses and local wineries. The application period is May 4-31, 2017. The application form and guidelines are now posted on the City of Livermore website at http://www.cityoflivermore.net/visitors/resources/programs.htm. Congratulations to Sergeant Kevin Santin on his well-deserved retirement after 29 years of service to the Livermore Police Department and community. Sergeant Santin began his career in November of 1988. From the beginning of his career as a Patrol Officer, Sergeant Santin has always shown a high level of expertise and commitment to keeping the citizens of Livermore safe. As a valued Field Training Officer, he helped shape a positive course for the department. As a Crime’s Against Persons Detective, his work ethic and tenacity to solve the case(s) were second to none. His dedication and commitment as a SWAT Team Member set the course for the future of the team. Most recently, as a Patrol and CIB Sergeant, Kevin is highly respected for his leadership and expertise. Congratulation’s Sergeant Santin – you will be missed!
The Livermore Police Department is requesting the community's assistance in a missing person investigation.On March 2, 2017, Dwight Meier communicated to his family that he would no longer see them and they could find his vehicle at the Livermore Walmart. When his parents received the letter on March 5, 2017, they contacted the Livermore Police Department and filed a missing person report. Meier's vehicle was located at the Walmart in Livermore like he had stated in his letter. LPD Officers along with assistance from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office checked the surrounding areas around Walmart. Despite search efforts, Meier has yet to be located. LPD Detectives are continuing their investigation in locating the whereabouts of Meier. Anyone with information regarding Dwight Meier's whereabouts please contact Livermore PD.
On January 3, 2017, at 7:39 p.m., the Livermore Police Department was made aware of a victim who had been shot in Livermore. LPD officers responded to the area of Highland Avenue and Valley View Way where they located a white male adult who was suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition. Livermore Police Department detectives began investigating the case and determined that the victim, James Jewell (28 year old from Concord), came to Livermore to take part in a drug transaction. Jewell met with Blake Wayne Hansen (25 year old from Concord), Alexander James Diaz (23 year old from Salida) and Robert Delarosa (23 year old transient) in a parking lot on North Livermore Avenue. Jewell got into a vehicle with Hansen, Diaz and Delarosa and they all left the parking lot together. Jewell was shot one time inside the vehicle. Jewell was then pushed out of the vehicle in the area of Highland Street and Valley View Way. Then Hansen, Diaz and Delarosa fled the area.
Congratulations Sergeant Jason Boberg on your promotion to the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant Boberg came to the department in May of 1999 as a police officer. His service as a patrol officer was commendable and his time as a Crimes Against Persons Detective was invaluable to solving some of our most challenging investigations. As the Department’s Lead Defensive Tactics Instructor, Sergeant Boberg has helped train our officers to remain safe and to know the law behind the force. As a Patrol Sergeant, Jason is well respected and viewed as a leader in the organization. Jason’s work ethic is of the highest caliber and one that we want to share with others.
Congratulations Officer Ryan Sanchez on your promotion to the rank of Sergeant. Officer Sanchez came to the department in January of 2003. During this time, Officer Sanchez has been an active participant in delivering service to the department and the community, especially our youth as the School Resource Officer for Livermore High School for many years. While in the position of SRO, Officer Sanchez hosted community presentations on the Police Department’s behalf for drugs, alcohol, cyber bullying, sexual battery and school lockdown and active shooter protocols. In addition, Officer Sanchez has excelled with the East County Tactical Team as the Assistant Team Leader on the Crisis Negotiations Team. Officer Sanchez is also a member of the department’s PIO Team.
Please join the Livermore Police Department in wishing Officer Traci Rebiejo well as she retires from the department after 24 years of service. Officer Rebiejo started with the department in August of 1991. Her service and contributions to the Traffic Unit have been invaluable especially her contributions to our department’s Traffic Safety and Education Program. Officer Rebiejo’s impact in our community through programs such as Every 15 Minutes, the Back Seat Challenge and her Car Seat Checkup Program has made a lasting difference. Officer Rebiejo will be missed. Thank you for your 24 years of service and congratulations Traci !
On June 14, 2016, the Livermore Police Department became aware that an officer employed with the agency was among the Bay Area law enforcement officers alleged to have had a sexual relationship with the woman known as "Celeste Guap." The officer was immediately placed on administrative leave while an investigation was conducted. The investigation has concluded and the officer involved subsequently submitted a letter of resignation.
Police Chief Michael Harris stated, "This incident does not accurately reflect the professionalism of the men and women of the Livermore Police Department who protect our community every day. Now that this matter has reached a conclusion, we will move forward and continue to serve with honor and protect with purpose. I would like to thank our community for their continued support and patience as we completed this investigation."
According to state law, personnel matters are required to be kept confidential. For this reason, we cannot release the details of the investigation or provide the name of the officer.
